About Oregon Public Risk Management Association

The Oregon Public Risk Management Association (OR-PRIMA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing effective risk management within Oregon’s public sector. Established in 1985 by risk managers from Clackamas County, the City of Portland, the City of Springfield, Lane County, and the Salem School District, OR-PRIMA has consistently promoted risk management as a vital component of public administration.

As the sole state association focused exclusively on public sector risk management, OR-PRIMA offers a comprehensive local resource for educational programs, risk resources, and networking opportunities. Its membership comprises professionals responsible for coordinating risk management, purchasing insurance, managing human resources, administering safety programs, and handling labor issues within public entities.

OR-PRIMA’s mission is to support and strengthen an effective, efficient public sector through the concepts and strategies of risk management. The association achieves this by organizing educational sessions, such as the Annual Spring Education Session and the Annual Fall Conference, which provide members with opportunities to learn, network, and collaborate.

In partnership with Citycounty Insurance Services (CIS), OR-PRIMA offers the Oregon Risk Management Certification Program, designed to enhance the professional development of its members. Additionally, the association collaborates with organizations like the Oregon School Safety Officers Association and the Oregon Chapter of the Risk Management Society to further its mission.

Governed by an elected board of directors employed in Oregon’s public sector risk management, OR-PRIMA continues to evolve to meet the needs of its members, providing essential resources and fostering a community dedicated to excellence in public risk management.
